High Current Switchboards

Overview

To complement our range of heavy duty MCB and fuse boards, Blakley Electrics also produces higher current distribution assemblies incorporating outgoing MCCBs or switch fuses. Although these assemblies are made to order, many basic designs are established, which helps to reduce manufacturing lead times and lessens the burden of design costs.

Our MCCB switchboards incorporate Schneider MCCB pan assemblies with bus bars rated at 250A, 630A and 800A, with up to 18 no. TP outgoing ways (or SP, DP or 4P equivalents).

Optional equipment can be fitted to suit the requirements of the installation. The 630A switchboard shown in the image alongside is fitted with 6 no. 250A TP outgoing MCCBs each with Micrologic 5.2E protection unit and energy meter. Each MCCB is connected to an EGX100 real-time Ethernet gateway via a modbus interface unit. The modbus equipment is powered by an integral 230-24Vdc power supply unit fed from the live-side of the main incoming device, via a 2A HRC fuse and neutral link.

Enclosures are heavy duty, single sided and, depending on the current rating and equipment, can be wall mounting or free-standing. Enclosures can be fabricated from mild steel or various grades of stainless steel and are typically rated at IP54 or higher, dependent on the overall size. Stainless steel is commonly used for marine environments or food processing plants and can be supplied with a painted finish or with a mill finish (unpainted). Mild steel enclosures have a durable powder coated paint finish, standard shade Dark Admiralty Grey.

Our switch fuse assemblies incorporate ABB isolators and switch fuses, rated from 63A to 800A, TP or 4P, housed in segregated compartments with external operating handles. Switch fuses accept BS88 HRC fuse links.

Enclosures for switch fuse assemblies can be single sided or double sided and can be free-standing or wall mounting (single sided only). Cable entry and exit is via removable gland plates in the top or bottom of the enclosure.

Enclosures can be fabricated from mild steel or stainless steel and are typically rated at IP54. Mild steel enclosures have a durable powder coated paint finish, standard shade Dark Admiralty Grey and other colours are available to choice.
